We've got answers to all of your questions about volume licensing for Camtasia and Snagit. If you don't see the answer to your question here, get in touch with sales and we'll make sure you've got what you need.
1. TechSmith software is licensed per user, so how many computers can I install it on?
Each user may install and use one copy of the software product on up to two computers for their sole use, provided only one computer is in use at any given time. This includes home and work, or a laptop and desktop.
2. What is the difference between a single-user and multi-user license?
A single-user license includes a key for each copy purchased. A multi-user license provides one key for all users based on the number of licenses purchased. Multi-user licenses for Snagit and Camtasia start at five users.
3. What if there are workstations or labs where multiple users log on to a single computer?
TechSmith offers licensing for shared workstations (e.g. a school's computer lab). It differs from our traditional single-user and volume licensing in that it is more expensive and requires a signed addendum. This reflects the nature of the use of the product in shared workstation environments. Please contact sales to complete the agreement required to use licenses in this manner.
4. Can a license be transferred from one user to another?
The licensee may not transfer licenses between users on a short term basis. If a user permanently changes departments or leaves the company, the software may be uninstalled from the original user’s machine and reassigned to another user within the same organization.
5. Can a multi-user license be used in multiple geographic locations?
As long as the software is still in use by the same organization, the software can be used at more than one geographical site. Each user, regardless of location, will count toward the total number of users licensed by the organization.
6. Does TechSmith offer enterprise licensing?
Yes! TechSmith offers site licenses that can be used to give entire organizations access to Snagit, Camtasia, or both. Contact sales to discuss whether a site license is right for your organization.
7. What if a key cannot be located?
An email confirmation is sent for each order which includes one key for all users per product. This page will help you find and recover your purchased license keys.
