As the market-leading screen capture and screen recording tool for more than 30 years, Snagit’s latest version includes upgraded functionality to support remote and hybrid work environments.
TechSmith Corporation, the market leader in screen capture and video editing tools today released Snagit 2022, which offers features to meet the expanding need for communicating across distributed teams.
Snagit 2022 offers improved picture-In-picture recording to help maintain a human connection in remote environments, and the ability to store content in the Snagit library to a variety of cloud options. Snagit 2022 users can also access their existing captures and Snagit projects from different devices to reuse and rework existing content, no matter where they are.
The new version also better aligns Snagit’s functions and features across Mac and Windows operating systems, making it easier to use Snagit across different devices and operating systems. Reworked onboarding tips also make it easier to get started with the software and invite you to discover more functions.
Snagit 2022 features
- Picture-In-Picture recording With Snagit 2022’s Picture-In-Picture feature, users can now capture their screen and webcams at the same time, along with audio. The size and position of the webcam window can be moved around the screen, displayed, or hidden easily during recording.
- Cloud library Snagit 2022 users can now store their capture library to one of several cloud services, making it easy to access from multiple devices. Cloud services supported include Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and Box.
- Cross-platform file format The new .snagx file format replaces historic platform-specific .snag (Windows) and .snagproj (Mac) formats. .Snagx is cross-platform compatible, so individuals and teams who use both Windows and Mac computers can open, edit, and share files with ease.
- Cross-platform markup consistency Annotation tools on both platforms now have the same design and functions, including multi-tail callouts, T-style arrow heads or background transparency, start and end arrow sizes, better shadow controls (shadow offset, blur, opacity, and color), and the ability to group objects on the canvas.
“In today’s world of work where colleagues can no longer look over each other’s shoulders to solve specific problems or ask questions, powerful images, graphics, and screencasts can help communicate complex content clearly, even over great distances,” stated Wendy Hamilton, CEO at TechSmith. “To achieve this, we’ve streamlined the workflows in Snagit, especially its Cloud integration, and optimized video functions and its options for cross-platform use. As a result, users now have complete flexibility and can use Snagit anywhere to access their files, no matter whether they’re working on their office PC or sitting at home with their laptop across both Mac and Windows operating systems.”
