When you first set out to make a video, it’s tempting to jump in and begin recording. Writing a script keeps you on track, helps prevent ums and ahs, ensures you don’t forget a key step, and saves time. Included at the end of the course are two script templates (downloadable) to help get you started on writing your own.

Resources and Downloads

"Table template titled 'Script Title: How to Use the Calculator' with two columns labeled 'Action' and 'Narration.' The left column lists steps such as fading in, showing agenda items, and using green arrow callouts, while the right column provides corresponding spoken instructions for each step.

When you start writing your own scripts, you can use whatever format best works for your needs. These downloadable templates are just one example of a script that works particularly well for screen recording videos, animations, and videos that are mostly voiceover. What’s important is that you capture the words that should be spoken and other key information, such as location, action, and direction to anyone reading the script.

We have two formats – one for Google Drive and one for Microsoft Word (.docx).
