Automatically Create Step-by-Step Guides

Need to quickly document a process or workflow? Snagit’s Step Capture automatically grabs screenshots as you click through a process on the screen. Snagit quickly turns the screenshots into an editable visual guide with numbered steps for you.

Step-by-step guide example

Use Step Capture to:

  • Help your staff get started with a new process or software.
  • Show a customer how to submit a claim or make a change to their account.
  • Provide informal training to address repeated questions.
  • Document a software bug for developers to reproduce.

See Automatically Create a Step-by-Step Guide (Step Capture).

Automatically Redact Sensitive Information

Combing through screenshots to remove personal or confidential information is tedious and time consuming. Let Smart Redact do the work for you!

Smart Redact example

Smart Redact identifies and automatically covers sensitive information, such as contact information, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, faces, and more.

To access Smart Redact in the Editor, select Blur tool > Smart Redact.

To learn more, see Hide Sensitive Information in an Image.

Automatically Remove Background Noise

No need for a professional audio recording setup when you record video with Snagit! Say goodbye to background noise, such as fans, nearby conversations, dog barks, and keyboard taps.

Snagit automatically filters out background noise when you record video, so your audience can focus on you.

See Record a Video with Snagit.

Choose a Virtual Webcam Background (Mac)

Keep the focus on you – not what’s behind you. Choose from any of Snagit’s built-in virtual backgrounds for your webcam recording. Or upload an image of your own to use as a background!

Virtual background examples

To access virtual backgrounds from the video recording toolbar, select Webcam Options > Virtual Backgrounds.
Access virtual backgrounds from the webcam options dropdown in the video recording toolbar

Note: Virtual backgrounds are not supported on Macs with Intel processors.

To learn more, see Record a Picture-in-Picture Video.

The Share Link button in Snagit Editor is a quick and easy way to share your image or video capture with anyone. If your organization prefers, your IT admin can customize Share Link to send captures to OneDrive or Google Drive rather than the Screencast default.

To learn more about Share Link, see Get a Shareable Link.

Apply a Gradient (Mac)

Add more color to your captures and annotations. Now you can add a gradient to an image background or use as a fill color for the Shape, Callout, and Fill tools.

See Apply a Gradient (Mac).
